You want to synthesize a compound?
Reach to the shelf and GET the starting materials. If they are not on the shelf, go to the lab next door or search in the INVENTORY system.
If the compounds are not available in house, search catalogues and BUY the compounds. How do you find similar compounds? By name - aagh, by formula -aagh, by structure - go to the ACD (Available Chemicals Directory) or to MDL® Screening Compounds Directory
If nobody sells your desired compound or a similar one, you better MAKE it. There are two ways to synthesize a new compound:
1. Fail first and go then to the library!
2. Go first to the library and do not fail!
Instead of going to the library use REACTION
DATABASES.
