Biography | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
I was born in Munich Germany and raised in Santa Barbara California returning to Europe at the age of thirteen. Later I studied drafting and interior design in Germany, Switzerland and England. After working for a number of years as an architect and interior decorator in Europe, New York and Los Angeles, I was blessed in 1999 to find a home in the beautiful Yosemite area to pursue my passion, the arts. Though I have worked in watercolor, copper etchings and ceramics in the past, the medium I use presently is oil and acrylic on canvas. My interest is the impressionistic era and my inner spiritual expression of life. Much of my art is inspired by my love for nature, and my passion for the out-doors, gardening, hiking, and rock-climbing. I have visions of capturing a brief moment of my inner being by interpreting light, radiance, movement and the magnitude of the universe around me. My paintings often show a clearly detailed area, a moment in time so clearly remembered - contrasting with colors merging and blending of moments less detailed in the minds eye. The paintings thus preserve an interest to viewers both at a close range, and from a distance. | My art has been shown in Switzerland at the Allianz Insurance, and has been sold privately as additions to my interior design commissions. My ceramics have been used in window displays both in Switzerland and in Germany. Since I have moved to California I have been a member of Timberline Gallery and shown my art at Williams Gallery West in Oakhurst. Though I prefer not to participate at juried art shows I was convinced to do so on two occasions. In 2002 I won second place at the Summer Solstice Art Affair in Oakhurst for my painting "Perception" and in 2005 I won first prize at the Sierra Artist Gold Rush Show in Mariposa for "Half Dome". In 2004 I was part of the "Sierra Art Trails" show held in the Southern Yosemite area.
